<h1><strong>Seven tips to make your vision a reality</strong></h1>

<h3><em>Twenty years from now, you’ll be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do rather than by the ones you did do.</em></h3>

<p>Have you ever been excited for the possibility of something in your life, but you didn’t quite know how to make it happen? Maybe it was your dream vacation, beginning a new business, writing a book, or simply doing more of what you love each day.</p>
<p>I recently took the leap to create my passion business and it was no easy feat. I had to let go of my comfortable paycheck, leave a position important to me as Director of Personal Financial Planning with AICPA,  learn new skills, and be willing to face uncertain terrain ahead.</p>
<p>This was quite the journey and I have learned a lot about how to face fears and keep going. Here are a few things that helped me along the way that I hope will be beneficial to you:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Acknowledge your thoughts and feelings. </strong>When you’re moving outside your comfort zone, it’s normal for your thoughts to go into overdrive and for negative feelings to arise. Many of us, including me, resist these feelings which leads to energy drain. Write down your thoughts and feelings to process what you’re going through so that you can move forward.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>Slow down. </strong>When you find something you’re excited about, you want it now and you’re ready to move away from what you have today. Don’t be so hasty that you make life harder than it needs to be. Take your time to plan for the outcome you desire and learn to love the life you have now while you’re moving towards the life you want.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>Take care of you. </strong>The best way to love the life you have now and to have the fortitude to bring your vision to reality is to take good care of you. What fills you up and gives you energy? Is it getting good sleep, playing with your dog, carving out time for exercise, walking in nature, writing down what you’re grateful for? The more you take care of you, the better you will be for others and for your own dreams.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>Ask for help and get support. </strong>It’s not easy doing something new so don’t be shy about asking for help. It’s powerful to surround yourself with people who care for you and cheer you on. Be willing to invest in yourself by hiring experts if needed or taking courses to learn more.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>Trust yourself.</strong> As important as it is to get advice from experts and those who have already done what you hope to do, the best person to rely on is you. No one knows what you want more than you and only you can be authentic to yourself. Learn to take the knowledge you’ve been given and trust your intuition to guide you forward.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>Take action in small steps. </strong>There’s no better way to gain clarity and make progress forward than to take action. Even if you don’t feel ready yet or feel something isn’t quite perfected, take courageous action anyway. This is how you get clear and gain confidence to take the next step and it becomes easier and easier.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>Be willing to take the leap. </strong>You’ll know when the time is right to leap more than anyone else. No one has a crystal ball and at some point, you have to trust that all will turn out well and take a chance. The important thing is to begin and to be open to what comes along your path as it could be more magical than you ever imagined.</li>

									<h1><strong>Techniques to find peace during the pandemic</strong></h1><h2>By Andrea Millar, RLP®, CFLA, CPA/PFS</h2><p>It’s understandable to have bouts of anxiety during this unprecedented time, even for those of us who are vigilant about our self-care routines. I have had my share of ups and downs and even went six nights in a row with very little sleep and this almost sent me over the edge!</p><p>Here are some things I have learned along the way that have been helpful for me to find my inner peace, despite all going on in the world. I hope there is an idea below that is beneficial for you.</p><ul><li><strong>Feel your emotions. </strong>When you allow your body to process your emotions, you&#8217;re able to let the feelings flow through you rather than resisting them which can make them get stuck and keep your body feeling tight and rigid.</li></ul><ul><li><strong>Be intentional with your thoughts</strong>. If you start thinking of all the worst-case scenarios that may happen as a result of the pandemic, this can lead to negative feelings which can lead to behavior that is not ideal. If you catch yourself and become intentional with your thoughts, you have a better chance of tapping into positive emotions that can lead to behavior that aligns to what you want for your life.</li></ul><ul><li><strong>Try high-intensity interval training. </strong>When you’re experiencing anxiety on a level of 6 or higher out of 10, it is best to resolve it through your body versus your mind. High-intensity interval training workouts can be found online and it only takes 10 to 15 minutes to calm your nervous system. This combined with meditation has done wonders for me to begin my day in a good place.</li></ul><ul><li><strong>Do yoga inversions. </strong>And, no, you don’t have to be able to do a headstand. You can simply do a downward-facing dog for seven breaths. When you’re experiencing anxiety, the blood has moved from your head to your muscles. A simple way to gain calm is to move the blood back to your head.</li></ul><ul><li><strong>Take time in nature. </strong>When I had my six nights of little sleep, I had to find a new routine to shake things up. This is when I found the new habit of swimming laps in the evening under the dark sky with the stars and moon beaming down on me. My dog ran alongside me as if cheering me on and this led to float rides with him that made me laugh and grin ear to ear, no matter how my day had been.</li></ul><ul><li><strong>Accept what is. </strong>I was recently alerted to the ontological definition of vulnerability which is to allow the winds of life to blow freely over your soul and to let life in on life’s terms. Any situation can become more manageable, or even enjoyable if you accept what is and hold on to knowing that all will be well.</li></ul><ul><li><strong>Re-focus on what is most important to you. </strong>When you know your life’s purpose and you’re focusing your time, money, and energy in that direction, it’s amazing how you can come alive regardless of circumstances surrounding you. As Viktor Frankl said, “those who have a ‘why’ to live can bear with almost any ‘how’.”</li></ul><h3>Do you need help with finding your why?</h3>								</div>

My life is much less stressful now than it was just a few years ago. I sold my business three years earlier than planned and work fewer hours and focus on the areas I enjoy most.
